A Bobblehead Trifecta For Jets QB Sam Darnold

Despite the Jets’ season unraveling with four straight losses and a 3-7 record, there is certainly something for Jets fans to look forward to regardless of how the coaching situation shakes out. There was a renewed sense of optimism in Jets Nation when the team traded up to the third pick in the 2018 draft and then they were in position to take USC quarterback Sam Darnold when the Giants passed on him
with the number two pick.

After so many years of waiting, it seems as if the Jets finally have the franchise quarterback that they were looking for. Even though the Jets will have new uniforms next season, Darnold’s current Jets jersey has been a big seller so you can only imagine how it will be when the new jerseys are unveiled.

And now, for collectors of unique sports memorabilia, there is an opportunity to add some new Sam Darnold items to your collection and that is a series of three bobbleheads that have been created by Forever Collectibles. Darnold was brilliant in his NFL debut on opening night in Detroit so the company moved quickly to get the bobbleheads available on their website FOCO.com.

“At the time, Darnold came out of the gates pretty hot for the Jets,” said Matt Katz, Senior Licensing Manager for Forever Collectibles. “We wanted to just jump on the bandwagon.”

Generally, Forever Collectibles will do a draft pick bobble for the top rookies with the player in their suit holding up a jersey. For Darnold, FOCO has come out with three bobbleheads, one in his USC jersey, one in a Jets jersey and one with his image on the Statue of Liberty.

Each bobble has a specific appeal to it.

“We did one with him in his USC uniform just to take advantage of that fan base out there,” said Katz. “The one on the Jets base…obviously we wanted to something fun and dramatic with him as a Jet. The Darnold bobble as the Statue of Liberty…that was something that we got inspiration for from social media. There was an image that was going around.”

It’s always exciting for your favorite team is able to acquire a marquee player, especially at a position that has been, with a few exceptions, problematic since Joe Namath ran off the Orange Bowl field with his finger in the air after the Jets won Super Bowl III. Even in the midst of another disappointing season, there is excitement about Sam Darnold and these three new bobbleheads are a big reason why he has captured the imagination of the New York/New Jersey area.
