The New York Giants are coming off a disappointing lost in which they felt like they were kicked in the you know what. A 63-yard field goal by Graham Gano sealed their fate. New York needs this one badly. I believe if they lose this game things will reach a boiling point. But, with a victory they can keep it to simmer. Just like last week I believe that The Giants must win by playing great defense. That includes but isn’t limited to getting off the field on by being physical at the line of scrimmage, 3rd downs, and forcing turnovers to set them offense up. Nothing energizes the crowd and the offense like great defense.
Eli has is NY Giant royalty and has great resume to back that up but, you can’t expect him to sit in the pocket while weaving through traffic and delivering the ball down field. That’s not what he is capable of at this point. We have to calm our expectations for him and expect more from the line. They must give him a clean pocket so that he can operate. If Fletcher Cox and Brandon Graham are having their way, then it will be over quickly at MetLife. If the offensive line does their job and protect him, we have seen glimpses of what he is still capable of and that will be enough. He has a supporting cast that has been getting the job done. Odell, Sterling and Saquon have been contributing when giving the opportunity and that’s part of Beckham’s frustration. The Eagles secondary as struggled this year and I don’t see that changing tonight. Saquon needs to touch the ball at least 20-25 times tonight. Just keep feeding him because he will break one or two if you do. Get Shep the ball on crossing routes and 3rd down. Get OBJ the ball by force feeding him it at all cost. Of course, you must be smart about it but if you see a one on one opportunity developing down field then throw it. He will make you right even when you are wrong. Most DBs are not very good defending the deep ball.
Philadelphia’s offense has been limping along to start the season. Not bad, but not as successful as they were last year. That has a lot to do with Carson and Alshon not getting those practice reps leading up to the season. Also, not having a featured back won’t help them this week. Damon Harrison and his guys upfront need to stop the run and make life miserable for Carson. They want him uncomfortable every time a pass is called. Then the likes of Janoris Jenkins and Landon Collins need to make splash plays tonight. Big hits, 3rd down stops and turnovers. Giants need to go out and start fast and finish stronger to get that much needed victory.
