First Base: Sean Newcomb of the Atlanta Braves lost a no-hitter with two outs in the ninth inning on Sunday against the Los Angeles Dodgers, after he gave up a clean single to Chris Taylor. The Braves held on and won 4-1, with Newcomb getting the win. He was looking to become the first Braves pitcher to throw a no-hitter since Kent Mercker in 1994.
Second Base: The A’s scored 11 unanswered runs to complete a 13-10 comeback win over the Rangers in 10 innings on Tuesday. They were led by Khris Davis, who hit the game winning three run home run in the top of the tenth, which was one of four home runs he hit over the A’s three game series in Arlington earlier this week. The A’s have been surging lately, going 32-18 over their last 50 games, and now only trail the Mariners by two games for the second Wild Card in the American League.
Third Base: The Blue Jays announced on Friday that top prospect Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has been promoted to Triple-A. Vlad Jr. hit .402/.449/.671 in Double-A this year with 14 home runs and 60 RBIs in 61 games. Baseball America has the 19 year old ranked as the #1 prospect in baseball in their newly released midseason top 100. He will be looking to follow in his father’s footsteps, who was one of six inductees into the Hall of Fame this past weekend.
