Giants Could Fire McAdoo After Oakland Game

The Giants could fire head coach Ben McAdoo  after the
team’s game in Oakland Sunday afternoon, according to
reports from ESPN and team sources.

The decision also will hinge upon the team’s performance
against the Raiders. Rumors began to circulate about
McAdoo’s possible firing after the team’s 51-17 against the
Los Angeles Rams and their subsequent 31-21 defeat to then
winless San Francisco 49ers.

Owner John Mara initially defended McAdoo’s and general
manager Jerry Reese’s decision to bench Eli Manning, but he
apparently wasn’t pleased with the handling of the
situation and the public relations backlash.

Mara earlier stated that decision on the coaching staff
and general manager would be handled at the end of the
season. But when asked about the situation this week after
Manning’s benching, Mara said “there are no guarantees in
life.”

Defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo is regarded as the
likely choice to replace McAdoo.
