Resolve Looks To Repeat In The International Trot

The International Trot, which is Yonkers Raceway signature event, is set to go off this Saturday.

And the early favorite is Resolve, the horse that won last year with 3-1 odds.

In the draw yesterday, Resolve got the No. 6 slot in the 10-horse race, which is not bad, but also doesn’t give the favorite any advantages.

It was amazing (to win last year’s race) and we are happy to be back here,” said Sarah Svanstedt, wife of trainer/driver Ake Svanstedt, who was not at the draw due to prior commitments.

Resolve didn’t fare well in his last race on Sep. 8, because he wasn’t feelling well due to what Svanstedt said was a tick bite.

But he’s healthy now and ready for Saturday.

The horse will be competing with nine other horses from seven countries and right now it looks like Italy’s twisted Bi will be the be biggest competition at 4-1.

Canadian Marian Marauder at 5-1 won the inside post of the race and could be a also a contender.

Rounding out the field is  Oasis Bi (Italy), 5-1; Dreammoko (France), 6-1; Shadow Woodland (Finland), 12-1; Midnight Hour (Finland), 10-1; In Secret (USA), 6-1; Tripolini VP (Denmark), 15-1; On Track Piraten (Sweden), 8-1.

The Internation Trot will go off at approximately 4 pm on Saturday and is part of the richest day of racing in New York State history. The Trot has a $3.3 million purse and there will be a couple of $250,000 races on that day as well.

First post is at 1 pm.
