The three-year-olds will be front and center at Yonkers Raceway this Saturday night (August 26) when 12 sophomore trotters vie for eight spots in two $40,000 eliminations for the 63rd edition of the $500,000 Yonkers Trot, the second jewel of the Trotting Triple Crown set for the following Saturday (September 2).
The elimination fields, set for the sixth and seventh races, that will be contested over Empire City Casino’s historic half-mile oval, are as follows:
1st elimination: 1-Enterprise (Tim Tetrick), 2-Another Chapter (Scott Zeron), 3-Southwind Cobra (Matt Kakaley), 4-Yes Mickey (Ake Svanstedt, lone gelding, lone $30,000 supplemental entrant), 5-Devious Man (Andy Miller), 6-Andy M (Dave Miller).
2nd elimination: 1-Money Macintosh (Andy Miller), 2-Di Oggi (Montrell Teague), 3- New Jersey Viking (Svanstedt), 4-Guardian Angel AS (Jason Bartlett), 5-Southwind Hydro (Marcus Johansson), 6-Top Flight Angel (Andy Miller also listed). Macintosh and Top Flight Angel are coupled.
The pacing sophomores are also on stage with nine three-year-old lads were entered for the 62nd Messenger Stakes, second jewel of the Pacing Triple Crown. This presents another edition of musical chairs, with all going in a $40,000 elimination (9th race) to get the octet for the $500,000 final.
