Tino Martinez Big Hit at Empire City Casino

Yonkers, NY, August 17—It came as no surprise that the big hitter was a big hit last night (August 16) at Empire City Casino. New York Yankees four-time World Series champion first baseman Tino Martinezwowed the crowd just as he did at Yankee Stadium during the Bombers championship run, meeting with fans, posing for pictures and signing autographs before watching the Subway Series game with zealots at Dan Rooney’s Sports Bar.

The Yankees won their third straight over the Mets to add to the joy for Yankees fans.

Empire City continues to bring New York’s most popular players to the largest entertainment destination in the northeast. Last month, it was 1986 Mets World Series champion lefthander Bobby Ojeda, and later this month, on August 26th, two-time Giants Super Bowl champ Mark Bavaro will appear at the casino’s Entertainment Lounge in the Gotham Palace.

During his 16-year career with the Yankees, Mariners, Cardinals and Devil Rays, Martinez drove in 1,271 runs as a two-time All-Star. He enjoyed six seasons with 100 or more RBI, while slugging 339 home runs. A first-round draft pick out of the University of Tampa, his clutch hitting helped to lead the Yankees to world championships in 1996, ’98, ’99 and 2000. He was also an Olympic gold-medalist in the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, Korea.
