The New York Red Bulls have reached an agreement on a new MLS contract with midfielder Felipe, the club announced today. Additional details of the multi-year deal were not disclosed.
“Felipe has proved to be a key player for our club over the past two and a half seasons,” said Red Bulls Sporting Director Denis Hamlett. “He continues to grow as a player and we are excited to keep him as part of our team.”
Felipe, 26, is now in his sixth MLS season and third with New York. The Brazilian has missed just one regular season game since being acquired from Montreal in a trade prior to the 2015 season. Felipe tied his career-high for goals last year with five, and has totaled eight goals and 15 assists for the Red Bulls. This season, Felipe is fourth in the league in duels won (115), while amassing 108 recoveries and 21 interceptions.
