Red Bulls To Take On Toronto FC Friday

HARRISON, N.J. (May 17, 2017) – Continuing their three-match homestand, the New York Red Bulls (5-6-1,16 pts) welcome first-place Toronto FC (7-1-4, 25 pts) Friday night at Red Bull Arena. Kickoff is slated for 7:30 p.m. ET, with coverage on MSG, MSG GO and New York Red Bulls Radio on Tunein.

Coverage of Friday’s match on MSG begins at 7 p.m. with Honda Red Bulls Game Night. Steve Cangialosi will have the primary play-by-play responsibilities and will be alongside Shep Messing and Tina Cervasio.

New York Red Bulls Radio gets underway with triHonda Countdown to Kickoff, hosted by Matt Harmon, at 6:30 p.m. ET. Harmon will call the game with Steve Jolley as the analyst in English, while Ernesto Motta provides Spanish radio play-by-play and the SAP call for MSG.

New York has lost three-straight matches for just the third time under head coach Jesse Marsch. Despite losing three in a row, New York has bounced back each time under Marsch. Following three consecutive losses in 2015, the Red Bulls finished the regular season 14-6-1. In 2016, New York finished the regular season 15-4-9 after its lone three-match losing streak of the year.

Bradley Wright-Phillips has scored eight goals against two MLS squads during MLS regular season in his career, Toronto and NYCFC. New York is 4-3-2 overall when Wright-Phillips is in the lineup against Toronto and 3-0-2 when he scores at least one goal.

The Red Bulls own the 13-7-6 advantage in the all-time series, including an impressive 10-2-1 mark at home. Despite Toronto coming into Friday’s match as the hottest team in MLS, New York is 7-1-1 all-time against Toronto at Red Bull Arena. The Red Bulls have outscored Toronto, 23-6 at RBA, which includes five clean sheets. Of the last nine matches at Red Bull Arena between these two teams, New York has been held to one goal or less just twice in the previous nine meetings.

New York wraps up its three-match homestand on Saturday, May 27 against New England. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET and will be broadcast live on MSG. The match will also be carried on New York Red Bulls Radio in English and Spanish.
