Rangers Drop Habs And Move On (Audio)

With their 3-1 win at Madison Square Garden in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinal, the New York Rangers win the first round and move on to face either the Ottawa Senators or Boston Bruins in Round 2.

For the second time in franchise history, the Rangers have earned at least one playoff series win in a best-of-seven series in five years over a six-year span (2012 – 2015; 2017). Prior to the current six-year stretch, the only time in franchise history when the Blueshirts earned at least one playoff series win in a best-of-seven series in five years over a six-year span was from 1992-1997 (1992; 1994 – 1997). In addition, the Rangers have now won at least one playoff series in five years during a six-year span for the third time since the NHL adopted a four-round playoff format in 1974-75 (five consecutive years from 1979 – 1983; five years over a six-year span from 1992 – 1997).
