Coutinho: Always Remember Jackie Robinson On This Day

Lent continues today and I always highlight a person who inspires me.

On this day, I want to pay special homage to a man I never met but whose life inspires me as a great person, great American, and great baseball player-Jackie Robinson. This is his special day as 70 years ago today he broke the baseball color barrier and with it brought much needed diversity to our country. This man personifies the true spirit of America and hopefully his memory can get in the minds of our country which seems to care more about politically arguing than loving each other these days.

Although I never met Jackie, I have interviewed his wonderful wife, Rachel Robinson, who always shows her love for Jackie, baseball, and of course, America every time I see her. To me April 15th should be a national holiday-Jackie Robinson Day because his courage and determination coupled with his ability to withstand so much so others could benefit is a constant inspiration to all of us. We love you Jackie Robinson.
