The NFL released the offseason workout schedule for all 32 teams on Monday. The New York Jets will open their facility to players beginning April 17. The New York Giants will start on April 18.
The Jets will hold their ten OTA (organized team activities) sessions, which are voluntary, on the following dates: May 23-25, May 30-31, June 1, June 5-8. Mandatory minicamp will be held from June 13-15.
The Giants’ OTAs are scheduled as follows: May 22-23, May 25, May 30-31, June 2, June 5-6, June 8-9 and their mandatory minicamp will also take place from June 13-15.
Although it has not been announced, each team usually holds their rookie minicamps the weekend after the NFL Draft. This year that would be May 5-7. Those camps usually contain all draftees, signed undrafted free agents, tryout players and other invitees such as players have not accumulated one full NFL season of service.
The offseason workout programs for both teams are held at their respective New Jersey headquarters. For the Jets, that means the Atlantic Health Training Center in Florham Park, while Giants will host their workouts at the Quest Diagnostic Training Center in East Rutherford.
The program is divided into three phases:
Phase One consists of the first two weeks of the program with activities limited to strength and conditioning and physical rehabilitation only.
Phase Two consists of the next three weeks of the program. On-field workouts may include individual player instruction and drills as well as team practice conducted on a “separates” basis. No live contact or team offense vs. team defense drills are permitted.
Phase Three consists of the next four weeks of the program. Teams may conduct a total of 10 days of organized team practice activity, or “OTAs”. No live contact is permitted, but 7-on-7, 9-on-7, and 11-on-11 drills are permitted.
