New Jersey Favorites Highlight Week One of New NHL Show

We won’t have outdoor winter hockey in these parts for New Year’s Day, but the new series leading to the two outdoor games, The Bridgestone Winter Classic on January 2 in St. Louis and the Centennial Classic on New Year’s Day in Toronto, will have some local flavor for sure. We were reminded of that when we got to see the first episode of “EPIX Presents The Road To the Outdoor NHL Classics” on Friday night.

The four week run is again masterfully done by 54 time Emmy winner and Westchester resident Ross Greenburg, and is a must watch for any hockey, or sports fan, once again this year as Greenburg and his crew profile the stories of the St. Louis Blues, Toronto Maple Leafs, Chicago Blackhawks and Detroit Red Wings.

The first episode will also be a special treat for local fans, as legendary Devils star Martin Brodeur is featured on his return to New Jersey, now as a coach for the Blues, and New Jersey native Trevor van Riemsdyk tallied his first goal of the season with most of his family in attendance at Madison Square Garden in a 2-1 win over the Rangers last week.  “That’s the great thing about these shows is you never know what we will get, and when something like that happens with Trevor we are there with his family to capture the reaction,” Greenburg added as the show was coming together later this week.

Fans can catch the show on EPIX and on NHL.com as well.
