Jake Lombardo, a 14 year old rising 8th Grader from Wayne, New Jersey, will have a chance to make history on Thursday Night at UCLA’s Pauley Pavilion when he gets one shot to throw a football 40 years through a target to win $50,000 as part of Nickelodeon’s Annual Kids Choice Sports Awards.
Lombardo plays quarterback for the Wayne Boys Club Panthers and beat out a regional field at the New York Giants Quest Diagnostics Practice Facility in June, and Tuesday night outdistanced a field that included participants from Oregon and California by scoring a perfect five points, throwing the football 40 yards through the target. A lifelong Giants fan, Lombardo will attend Wayne Valley High School, where he is already a manager for the football team.
Hosted by Seattle Seahawks’ two-time Super Bowl quarterback Russell Wilson, Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Sports 2016 celebrates kids’ favorite athletes, teams and sports moments in one big, slimy event. The show will tape live from UCLA’s Pauley Pavilion in Los Angeles on Thursday, July 14, and air on Sunday, July 17, at 8 p.m. (ET/PT) on Nickelodeon.
