Yankees manager Joe Girardi today was wearing a shirt from the New York Blood Center in his pregame press conference to point out the good work the non-profit organization does every year.
“Earlier in May we had a drive in Grand Central Terminal,” Girardi said. “The Yankees gave the first 250 blood donors tickets to today’s game.
“It’s one of the largest non-profit collection centers in the United States. They give over 1 million components to over 200 area hospitals in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut and 4.5 million people receive transfusions every year.”
