The Rangers have split the first two games of a playoff series in nine of their last 13 series, dating back to the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals in 2012 against Ottawa. The Blueshirts have also been tied at one game apiece following the first two games of a playoff series in all four series since the start of last year’s playoffs. Entering the 2016 Playoffs, the Rangers posted a 6-2 series record in the last eight series in which they split the first two games.
