The New York Jets open their pre-season this Friday with Kids Night, which is designed to provide in-game experiences and entertainment to young fans of the team.
It will begin prior to kickoff in the Gen Jets Kids Zone located between the Verizon and SAP gates. There events will include Jets Fest, presented by Chase, with inflatables, a DJ, face painters, a juggler and a QB toss presented by Modell Sporting Goods. 50 Gen Jets Kids Club members will form a tunnel on the field during player introductions.
Champions of the Jets 7-on-7 Flag Football Tournament, Barringer High School, will be recognized on the video boards during pregame and will be hosted in the Chase suite. The event, held on June 12, was a round-robin tournament for high school athletes and culminated in a four-week coaching internship for New York Jets players. Barringer High’s coaches and families will also be in attendance, while the MVP of the tournament, Victor Salrine, will be an honorary captain for the coin toss.
Six youth football teams will play on the field during pregame and halftime. In addition, the Jets in conjunction with USA Football, have invited more than 4,000 participants from youth football teams in New York and New Jersey to attend. Included in the group will be the New York City Public Schools Athletic League Girls Varsity Flag Football champions from Leon M. Goldstein High School. Prior to the game, members of the Leon M. Goldstein Dolphins will be on the sideline for pregame warmups and then honored on the video boards during the game.
