NYC FC Signs Mix Diskerud

New York City FC have announced the signing of USMNT midfielder Mix Diskerud on a free transfer, using their number one position in the Allocation Ranking.

Capped 25 times for his country, Mix joins from Norwegian side Rosenborg where he spent three seasons.

The 24 year old playmaker, who started his career in Norway with Stabæk, made his debut for the USMNT in 2010 against South Africa in Cape Town, providing an assist for Juan Agudelo, who scored the winning goal in a 1-0 victory. He helped the team to lift the CONCACAF Gold Cup in 2013 and was also a member of Jurgen Klinsmann’s World Cup squad in 2014 in Brazil, reaching the Round of 16.

Claudio Reyna, Sporting Director of New York City FC, said:

“We couldn’t be happier to have Mix coming to play in New York. He’s one of the brightest young talents in US soccer and will be a fantastic addition to our Club and to MLS.

“Mix is a dynamic midfielder who will easily fit into the style we want to play here in New York City. He keeps possession well and gets everyone involved with his passing range.

“I particularly want to thank Paal Diskerud and Pål Remman for working with us and MLS to make this happen.”

Speaking to, Mix Diskerud, said:

“New York City FC have made my wish as an American a reality by giving me the opportunity to play and live in the US.

“Everybody I have spoken to on the men’s national team about Jason Kreis has spoken highly of him to me. I felt exactly the same way after meeting him. I’m sure he will help me to develop my game, to succeed with our team here in New York and to stay involved with the national team. Coming to play for New York City FC was an easy decision for me.”
