SPORTIME Pros Look For Future Stars and John McEnroe Tennis Academy Students at Scholarship Tryouts At Randall’s Island June 14

Young hopefuls from all across the tri-state area will be out in force at SPORTIME Randall’s Island on Saturday, June 14, when SPORTIME coaches seek untapped talent in tryouts for full and partial scholarships to attend one of three John McEnroe Tennis Academy locations.  The day begins with registration at 8 a.m., with a series of evaluation sessions concluding at approximately 3:30 p.m.

Open to juniors ages 6-16, the tryouts will be led by an Assessment Committee, which will evaluate talent as players go through evaluations, drills and matches beginning at 9 a.m.  Scholarship winners will be notified by July 6.

SPORTIME Randall’s Island is located at 1 Randalls Island, Manhattan.  For more information, parents of interested children can email [email protected] or visit www.JohnMcEnroeTennisAcademy.com. Registration closes on June 6 at 5 p.m. ET.

Proper tennis attire must be worn.  There is no fee to try out, but pre-registration is required.  Player locker and shower facilities will be available and food and beverages are available for purchase at the SPORTIME Courtside Café. Water will be available on court. Full service pro-shop and stringing service available on site. Entrants can visit www.sportimeny.com/JMTAScholarship for online registration or to print and submit via postal mail, online form or fax.

“Past tryouts at various SPORTIME locations have helped us find players with great potential” said JMTA Director Lawrence Kleger. “We all look forward to a great day of try-outs and to finding some amazing kids and future champions.”

And for parents who want to bring along other children ages 3-10 who are not trying out, SPORTIME will host the free U10 Tennis Kid-Tacular, specially-designed programs with prizes, games and fun. It will be held from 1-4 p.m. following completion of the first phase of the tryouts.
