There was one reason that Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, and Jason Terry are excited about joining the Brooklyn Nets: they see that this team has championship potential, as they will join Deron Williams, Brook Lopez, and Joe Johnson on a team looking to build on the 49 wins they had last season.
Pierce spent his entire career in Boston, but saw the direction they were moving in towards a rebuilding, so Brooklyn is his best chance at a title as his career nears its end. Garnett spent the past six years in Boston and waived his no-trade clause to make this deal possible. Terry spent one year in Boston and is looking forward to playing for Head Coach Jason Kidd, who he was teammates with on the Dallas Mavericks championship team in 2011.
