| ...in the same week they obtained Kaka from Milan. Manchester United accept Real Madrid's £80m bid for Ronaldo - Transfers - ESPN Soccernet When I was touring Spain for a month and half, I went to two Real Madrid matches and have been a fan ever since. Previously, I had just been a casual fan of European soccer without any allegiance to any team, watching whatever was on. It'll be interesting to see how this plays out. I'm pretty stoked for Real Madrid and Spanish soccer as a whole.

| Senior Member | I have no love for United, but I think I would rather have Alex Ferguson and $130 million than another year of the Ronaldo soap opera. Maybe they can spend some of it on Tevez (though it seems unlikely), who really wants to be there and makes a big impact for a lot less? I would spread it around rather than overpay for someone like Ribery too. These clubs feal a little like the Yankees (Madrid) and Red Sox (ManU) right now.... |

| Super Moderator | Don't be mad when you get called out on silly predictions. So far the only team that can go above ManUtd next year is Liverpool. Arsenal is too streaky and Chelsea...who knows. So I'll ask again, what other team is so much better than ManUtd now that #7 is gone? |

Holier than thou? You're saying a team that back-to-back champs are suddenly going to fall to third even if they sign someone, base on that team losing one player and the off-season isn't over yet. SO yes, it IS comical.YOU have basically given Man Utd no respect since you started talking here and I'm supposed to be all humble and **** with the team's success while you still call them "ManUre?" **** you! I have given the Toffees respect, but I don't see them as EPL champs anytime soon.

| Super Moderator | To get back on topic... Losing #7 hurts United big time. Reminds me of losing Becks so many years ago. Losing arguably the best player in the world, can do nothing but hurt. However, They now have $130 mil and Sir Alex. He has plenty of options to what to do with that money. It is bittersweet. |

| Cristiano Ronaldo is the cog that made that offense work. Without him and Tevez they're left with Rooney, disappointing Berbatov, and aging Ryan Giggs. You have a 40 to 50 goal absence those two leave. That's not just a gap a playmaking midfielder like Ribery can fill. That is why you will finish below Chelsea and Liverpool even with Ribery. GOOD LUCK. ****wad. |

Like I said, losing #7 does nothing but hurt, but I'm confident Sir Alex will make the team better. Is there concern? Hell yes. Is the summer off season over? No. United sent #7 away at a right time to try and close as much of the gap as possible. This means Tevez MUST be resigned, and I think he will since he said no to Liverpool. This means Sir Alex needs to get someone else as well (Benzema, Ribery). This also means Berbatov has to step up along with Rooney. Chelsea?! Please. At least you picked the better one of Chelsea or Arsenal. At least if United does finish third, all United fans can easily say "We have to lose sometime, but at least we still higher than the Toffees." Good luck to another 5th-6th place finish!
