| How much 'fight' and 'heart' did Utley and Burrell have today? Or how about when Ryan Howard k's 288 times per year? Mets don't need more fight or heart. They need more relievers with guts and another hitter who isn't trying to hit a long ball and can hit opposite field doubles. What a bunch of silly **** that is. Hit pitch and win. Big ****ing deal. The Phillies are as mediocre as any 'playoff' team can be and it's due to ineptitude that they stay afloat, just as the Mets have the last 2 years. You want heart and fight? Go draft a Pujols or Halladay.

| The Mets bullpen is horrible, and the Phillies' is very, very good. Case closed. And with Maine now out, the starting rotations are a lot closer. The Mets will really have to pull some character, or heart, or guts, or whatever out of their trousers to actually pull off this division win. Because they're not going to get it done with that bullpen alone.

| Anyone see that question about who failed more, maine or the bullpen. 12% to 88%.

| Because the offense shut down again when everyone that has ever lived or died knew they needed more runs? Because Poster Boy didn't think it was necessary to run to avoid a double play? This is the same gutless team as last year, with a smarter manager. |

| This is the MO this team goes by, we all know it - Score early, shut down, and let the pen implode. Barring a miraculous turn of events, that trend continues and the Mets fail to make the playoffs. Plain and simple.

| The scariest thing about it all is that everyone in the park, including the two teams, knew the Mets were going to blow that lead, especially if they didn't score after the 4th. Which, of course, they didn't. They lead the majors in first inning runs, and lead the majors in least runs after the 5th inning. F*cking ridiculous. It's like they're TRYING to create perfect metaphors for last season's collapse. Just to taunt the fans further.

If the Mets do not make the playoffs, Omar should be gone within 24 hours of the end of the season, and the Mets should do a big overhaul, though I doubt the Wilpons will have the balls to do it. I'd rather watch a bunch of guys that try hard, and care about winning, even if they lose.... than keep getting my heart ripped out, night after night, season after season.

| Is Omar up in his luxury box thinking everything is fine and he doesn't need to fix the pen? Can he be that comatose?

2. It's probably too late to do much about the pen. This needed to be taken care of a long time ago. Barring a miracle, we are stuck with the horses we have, and they are all near death.
