The Phillies came all the way back to tie the Mets at 7all, and win it 8-7 in 13 innings.

But I guess blaming Omar is just easier.
I thought it had to do with record first and foremost, actually. If I'm wrong on that, fine. But this transaction still pretty much proves that decent relievers are getting traded right now. Phillies picked up another arm today, too.

I don't know that Omar's plan of waiting on AA players to save the season is going to work, but if you think it is, great. We'll see. But this bullpen is a f*cking nightmare, with or without Mr. Kunz.

What happens if there are multiple claims? The team with the worst record in the same league gets precedent. If nobody in the same league makes a claim this same rule reverts to the opposite league; the team with the worst record has first dibs, so to speak. For the first month of the season, the previous year’s W-L records are used to gauge these dibs. After that, current season records come into play. This again leads into some waiver theory or strategy, in that some teams will put in a claim simply to block another team from getting a certain player. If the Red Sox want a relief pitcher on waivers, and make a claim for him, the Yankees, who have a worse record, may also make a claim in the hopes that their rivals cannot improve their team.
The 'same league' rule applied to Bradford.

But I guess blaming Omar is just easier.

1. Didn't they change the waiver rules a few years ago so that the player is not offered first within his own league and then to the other league? Since the Mets have a worse record than TB, I think they would take priority in the waiver contest. [On edit: I see this has just been discussed.]

2. Bradford being available is a symbol that other relievers have probably been available as well since before the deadline that Omar failed to get. Moreover, if Bradford was available now, it seems improbable that he was untouchable a week ago. While agree that it could be unfair to criticize Omar for the specific crime of "not trading for Chad Bradford on August 7th," with his shaky bullpen, with roster space to improve it before the deadline (Muniz is a waste), and seeing how cheaply some of the relievers have cost (Bradford, Rhodes, etc.), Omar definitely deserves criticism for doing nothing when any arm, even a lesser one would have been an improvement.

GET THE PIECE OF CRAP CRAPPO OFF MY TEAM NOW!!!!!

The CRAPPO does most things upside down: eats, sleeps (an average of 23 hours per day), mates, and gives birth. Because of the CRAPPO'S upside down life, many of the CRAPPO'S internal organs (liver, stomach, spleen, pancreas) are in different positions from other mammals. CRAPPO sometimes lets out a cry or hissing sound.

During the rare times the CRAPPO goes down to the ground (such as to change trees for food), it moves very slowly.

I think you're confusing it with the draft which changed. Used to flip flop AL/NL now just based on record.

No, but I might be confusing it with one of those ESPN articles on a slow day where executives propose improvements to baseball's transactional rules.
