May be true, but before anyone starts guessing, Delgado was actually one of the first guys, if not the first guy, out to home plate. Maybe he thought he spotted the head of a NY jounalist near the pile, and was charging out to kick it?

well it helps when he was in the on-deck circle...

on edit: I'm a retard, Delgado had the day off.

The Phillies told the Mets they would protest if they did any overboard celebration.

I admit to keeping an eye out for Delgado. He was there, beating Wright with a sandal or something.

Just one comment before I parse through the IGT, that IMO, the two hits Santana gave up in the eighth were extremely soft
The spectacular DP aside, the 8th inning hit that got by Reyes' right really crystallized for me the fact that other than Beltran and Endy, the Mets have been really pretty poor defensively this year (Wright and Reyes included).

Ladies and gentlemen, say hello to the first-place New York Mets.

Well, tied for first place in the NL East with the Phillies at 52-44. But with a 10-game winning streak, and with the way the Mets rallied for a 10-8 win over the Reds last night, it seems like only a matter of time before the Mets leave the rest of the division in the rearview mirror.
You ****ing knew it after reading that.

The funniest thing was how far away Heilman was from the pile. Once they got close to Heilman he used Pelfrey as a shield and then tossed Pelfrey into the pile. I guess he wants Pelfrey's spot in the rotation.
