| As of two weeks ago I had sworn off the Mets. They were not worth my time. Now they have dragged me back in kicking and screaming, and they are only 1.5 games out of first place. Oh how I wanted to stay away, only to come crawling back. It's like me and dieting - I can't stay away from the burgers and fries for very long. BTW - I still hate this team.

| I actually was looking forward to a mike pelfrey start last night. I didn't think I would ever say that again. I'm looking forward to the next one.

| Who would have thought if he just threw strikes how effective he would be. I guess I could be a pitching coach.

| I saw him at CBP early in the year and he was throwing batting practice. And he was wearing that stupid mouthpiece just to annoy me.

| It's great to see the 'negative' fans always post here to 'complain' but the good fans are always missing out when the team struggles. Then they magically appear and talk **** when the team finally wins a few in a row (as every team does once in a while). So, where are they when things get bleak? Probably painting their ****ing toe nails.

BTW - you don't know what it's like to be a real fan until you sit in the upper deck at Shea (with about 4000 fans in attendance) to watch the 1979 club try and win that one game for the week, hoping for Steve Henderson to hit a HR in the ninth inning. That is my red badge of courage as a Mets fan.

| I need a bit more evidence that they're playing well to be fun to watch again before I resubscribe to my mlb.tv subscription. I'm not bothered about winning so much as baseball I can enjoy watching, which means good execution and the players giving a damn. It's a hobby to follow the Mets for me, so if it's no fun why bother - I still follow them every day, but why waste the time actually watching them for a few hours every day when you know you won't enjoy it even if they win? I've watched Mets teams in recent history that were mediocre in results, but played hard and were a team you could root for ('01 and '05 come to mind). If people such as njmetsfan and the Bills of the world need to validate their worth or whatever by spouting off on what good and loyal fans they are, all power to 'em. To me, it means they're idiots with little of value in their lives, but there you go.

| Senior Member | Lets not get carried away here....they blew a 2-0 lead with two outs in the 9th on Sunday and needed Fernando Tatis to save the day....nearly blew on a 9 run lead on Monday...and now beat the one of the worst teams in baseball. They still are making a number of mistakes in the field, the bullpen is still a question, and they arent going to continue to pound out 14 hits a night. Right now, its still only a 4 game win streak....and they are still only 2 games over .500. Let at least the rest of the week play out first. There is no reason why they shouldnt go 4-1 before the break. They do that and I'll jump back on as well, but at this point I still wouldnt be surprised if they stumbled into the break sitting at .500. |
