Default Howcome the 1B and 3B coaches are required to wear helmets?

... and the pitcher and corner IF are not? They're all closer to the live baseballs than these coaches.

They have gloves and are 100% focused on the pitch coming in to plate rather than runners and signs.....

Well then they shouldn't be coaches. I mean, if you're only 65 to 70 years old you clearly should be able to dodge a ball coming at you 100 MPH.

This is a big reason why they are wearing helmets:

ESPN - Coolbaugh, 35, dies after being struck by ball - Minor Leagues

You are really like 8 months behind the rest of the world.

I'm well aware of this tragedy. My point is that coaches are at least 90 feet away, while pitchers are only 60. They should probably have some kind of protection on their heads, although all the injuries I can think of were to pitchers faces, which a helmet wouldn't protect.

Why don't we put them in full football uniforms while we are at it.

Or they could just start playing with tennis balls. I mean I used to do that playing baseball in trenton so as not to break any windows. I could see that catching on. No one would get hurt. Hey while we are at it, how about adding the following:

No leads
No stealing
Everyone gets a turn at bat
Coaches pitch

Yeah because that was the point he was making. "Baseball's too dangerous". Just a tip kd, an attempt to start a pile-on generally works better when what you think was said bears some resemblance to what was actually said.

If you say so.

I saw his point being more about the 1st and 3rd base coaches, maybe, who knows? because it was the title of the thread.
