| I'm no Jon Sickels, but who exactly is the interesting prospect in that package? Sean Gallagher isn't highly regarded and Matt Murton has been pegged as a AAAA player. Is Eric Patterson or the other guy a big deal?

| Wow. He's no CC, but the Scrubs were better than the Brew-Crew before this. If the Mets are gunna play October baseball, they're going to need to win the division.

| I agree he's better than CC, but he's just about as reliable as El Duque.

| Senior Member | Umm wow that seems like a complete steal for the Cubs. Even if Harden is an injury mess, the guy is one of the best pitchers in baseball when he's on the mound. I think the deal was done by Oakland because Harden has been struggling to go 5 of late and will probably be back on the DL about 2 starts after the all-star break but the Cubs still gave up virtually nothing impact wise for him. I'll say this sounds really similar to the Hudson deal, in the Oak took a stab at quantity for a guy they feel is damaged goods. |

| Gallagher hasn't received much of a chance with the Cubs. He is considered the centerpiece of the deal. Billy Beane sees him as a potential #3 or #4 starter. The A's see Eric Patterson as a replacement for potential free agent Mark Ellis at second base. Murton will probably be a decent fourth outfielder at some point. The fourth player, Josh Donaldson, was the Cubs second-round pick last year but has not done as well as expected so far. |

| A's need hitting, though. While it's good to have a reliable cheap 3/4 starter over time, the other guys they received are not barn burners. Wow, Cubs really did well this time.
