Default Bonds Wanted as One of Charlie's Angels!!!

Did anyone read on MLB.com on the Mets acquiring/not acquiring a corner OF before the deadline??

When asked about Bonds, he got excited, saying things like "Bonds, woo hoo" "what a talent" "yeah, he'd look good on anyone's team".

Greasing the wheel to get the fans' reaction?

I swear the MOFO needs to get some kind of stipend as an aggregate GM/advisor to Jeffie Wilpon.

The Holliday stuff is a pipe dream. I'm not even sure why the hell the Rockies would entertain trading him right now, but if they did there are at least half-a-dozen teams that can afford him, have a place for him to play, and can outbid the Mets. It's ridiculous to even specualate about something that has less than zero chance of happening.

I would be a bit leery of Holliday, especially for how much it will cost. His numbers are drastically better at Coors Field.

Not saying he would not be a very good player, but I feel that you would be paying top price for a guy that is probably a cut below the top shelf....

Fair enough, but he's still no slouch, and if he hits an open trade market the Mets don't have what it takes to get him, especially since he's still signed for a while.

According to Metsblog, the Mets had enough to get Sabathia and only didn't because Omar declined when Shapiro offered.

I totally agree with you...he is still one of the best around...I just always worry about guys who dominate in hitters parks. Especially coming to a city like NY. He is an Oklahoma kid playing in Colorado. Not sure if NY would be the ideal place...

I am not trying to be a contrarian....just something to consider...especially since it will take a mammoth offer to get him...

Oh, I know. It's a good point. I just think it's moot, at least as far as the Mets are concerned.

Yeah, I saw that. For some reason I can't help believing that Shapiro was just letting Omar down easy, sort of like an "It's not you, it's me" thing. Though the report did claim that Shapiro was the one who initiated contact.

Then again, the Mets do have enough, if they'd consider Wright or Reyes. Maybe Shapiro was taking a stab in the dark.

I doubt there's any way the Mets could have landed him strictly using prospects.
