Default The Shoe is on the other Foot

The Phillies have been on top of the division for quite some time now. And they don't know how to handle the pressure. They don't know how to be the team to beat. This division is going down to the wire again this year. And I think it can be had for less than 90 wins. None of the teams are all that good.

I agree that the phils are definitely flawed. They are not as good as they or their fans think they are. When you consistantly have to trot out Adam Eaton, Jamie Moyer, Kyle Kendrick and J.A. Happ you have major problems. While those guys will surprise you sometimes, the law of averages would indicate, they are what they are.

They are an all or nothing team, home run or nothing. As proven last year in the playoffs, you can't win like that.

No, but as the Yankees have proven time and time again you can get to the playoffs with a team like that.

The biggest thing for the Phils will be their bullpen. They are in 1st with terrible starting pitching because their pen has been the best in the NL. Last year the pen of largely the same cast was the worst in the NL. It'll be interesting....

Right now they have Lidge pitching with an era of 1 and no blown saves.....

Clay Condrey who pitched to a 5 era last year is under 4 despite a WHIP of 1.50 and a BAA of .300.

Chad Durbin is pitching to a 1.80 era with a career era well over 5.

Gordon just went to the DL

Seanez is pitching to a 2.80 era with a career era over 4.

Bullpens are often flukey so maybe they keep it up, but if it does start to collapse, just like the Mets last year, the Phils will sink.

I really think that team is overrated. Their bullpen has been stellar so far, but as you mentioned they were shitty last season.
I'd wait on lidge. As met fans know, closing in the first part of the season is a lot different than when the games really mean something. Not discrediting his season so far, but pressure can affect a lot of closers.

Wagner seems to suck lately regardless of pressure.
