Default Turning Point II

Is there hope after all for Pelfrey?

IT'S A MOTHER****ING TRAP!!!

Seriously though, if they can't start winning, Pelfrey is actually becoming very interesting to watch.

They sure NEED Pelfrey to continue to improve, because Pedro is toaster strudel. So it's not really a turning point for the team, per se, as Pefrey is GETTING to a point where Pedro used to be with the Mets in 05 and part of 06.

But with Pedro turning into Lima, Omar needs to get Freddie Garcia on the phone, ASAP. I'm sure he has his number on speed dial already, anyway.

Very true, but even if they get progressively worse I hope Pelfrey keeps improving so I have something interesting to watch every 5 days.

What is he 4-0 in his last seven starts? I wish he wasnt missing the Phillies because it would have been cool to see what he did vs the tough lefties in that line up...oh yeah, also he's our best pitcher!

I dont think the team gets progressively worse. I think what you see is what you get, to be honest. Several weeks have gone by where they dont have any streak at all...Win one, lose one, so on....

That said, Pelfrey has been very good and they desperately need him to be as he is one of 3 that will still be here next year.

Pelfrey's apparent coming of age is a nice thing to behold. I hope he doesn't make us all eat our words but right now it's great! Perhaps we are witnessing the birth of an All-Star pitcher!

I will say that it seems the Mets BATS are coming around a lot more often, no? When is the last time you saw them score this many runs in a week-long stretch?

Trouble is they score 15, then none. They scored 11 last night and will score none tonight.

I'm just angry that Vargas isn't starting while he's in AAA. Terrible move to keep him over the great Vargas

(ugh, I still cannot see how fans supported that idea, despite what he'd do in the future)

So glad to see him do well. I'm excited for at least one thing re: this **** team.

Despite being sent down, Vargas still has an ERA lower than 2/5ths of the rotation. And he's not that far off from Pelfrey, still.

Vargas: 4.62
Pelfrey: 4.23
Martinez: 7.39
Perez: 4.98
