Default Jose Reyes?

Anyone know how much of a day-to-day absence we can expect out of him?

should be bencheded today for his antics last night. If he is i'll repsect JM as manager. Imagine doing that with Hodges as manager.

I will say that I was impressed with how Manuel handled that during and after the game.

I think Reyes will and should play tonight - I believe that Manuel made his point. The fact that Reyes apologized to both the manager and the team tells me that the point was taken. How long it is taken is another question that only time will tell.

IMO, the comments about not wanting to lose Reyes for a long time were telling. Did he mean just physically, or was there more to it?

Time will tell.

The one big problem I already have with Manuel is that he is acting as if he saw nothing for the past year or so. I mean, he was sitting there right next to Willie the whole time. What is there to "identify", or to evaluate? Everyone has seen the same sh!t for more than a year now. The same dead beats last season are the same ones this year. We still have the same bored 1B, only now his skills have gone to sh!t. The 2B is a permanent gimp. The SS has the mentality of a toddler. The bench stinks. The clubhouse is a cesspool... and on, and on, and on.

I could take him and Omar more seriously if they made real changes to the roster. Otherwise, all the rhetoric about identifying, riding the train, blah, blah... means nothing.

I think saying those things was his way of not directly criticizing Willie, so he doesn't look like he's kicking him has he walked out the door.

Fair enough, but I would very shocked if the Mets made any changes to the roster. I thought it was alarming that no asked Omar, or Manuel about that.

Like they say....that two feet on the bench from bench coach to manager is a looooooooooong two feet.

Ill give Manuel a chance to make his OWN evaluations of things and make his OWN moves.

So Manuel doesn't have eyes? Which is my point. He certainly must have been watching the whole time ( I would hope). There are things wrong with this team that have festered for over a year now. That he needs time to identify and evaluate, while he sat in the dugout that whole time... just means to me that we will see more of the same (regarding the players).

I'm also sure he's not the type of guy to usurp his boss. He may have seen the problems, but either couldn't get through to Willie or didn't say anything about it.

He's the boss now.

Again, fair point.

He can start by benching Reyes tonight.

Reyes won't play tonight, but IMO it's to rest him and his legs, not to punish him.
