Default Omar next to be fired?

I'm sorry but I think we're looking at a downward spiral between now and the end of the season. Should the Mets end the season under .500 and in fourth place, would that be enough to justify firing Minaya? Lets be honest, Minaya is the one who brought in Alou, Delgado and Castillo. If the team doesn't win, Minaya deserves the boot.

I get this gut feeling the Mets could be going through another four or five years of losing seasons. I thought Minaya was a genious a couple of years ago. I also thought the Mets would make a run that would compare to that of the Braves in the 90's. Only now to wake up and discover that our window closed after 2006. When I look at the free agent market, I don't see a short or long term answer and our farm system maybe the worst in baseball.

I know the Mets had an interest in Gerry Hunsicker, maybe they could revisit bringing someone like that on board. I know Hunsicker played a key role in rebuilding the Astros and is now part of the Rays front office.

He'll be gone if they're under .500 at the end of the year. I don't think he endeared himself to the Wilpon's by sticking by Willie either. They were clearly at odds over it for the last month or so...

No way. They need him to sign more 16 year olds who can corkscrew themselves into the ground on one swing...

Or we need to find one more latin reliever who, for whatever reason, is accompanied by a player who turns out to be a better solution. Just sit and wait for it. Watch the magic.

I need good porn. **** this. Mets, who cares? They can all eat ****.

No matter how well the Mets are doing, 1993 always seems to be just around the corner.

Hunsicker is the Senior Vice President of Baseball Operations in Tampa Bay (second in command to Andrew Friedman, who is the Executive Vice President of Baseball Operations).

So he is playing second fiddle now, has been a successful GM in the past with the Astros, and has a history with the Wlipons. Unless he pissed off Jeffy at some point, this is not unrealistic at all.

Default Omar next to be fired? I sure hope so!

However, it will do no good as it is the amateurs who are running the team now. It's clear Omar's an empty suit and his full autonomy is just more bs. Full autonomy really means "the Wilpons will do what they want, and I'll take the fall." Hopefully, the Yankees will offer Willie a job and stick it to the Wilpons like they so richly deserve. I wish they'd sell the team.

Minaya's in trouble if the Mets aren't in the playoff race come September 1st.

I have a hard time believing at this point he'll have the ability to hire the next manager without that playoff race.

What has Omar done that makes you think he still deserves to have full autonomy over this team? I think the smartest thing the Wilpons can do is to start to take back control of their team and that means firing Tony B and then getting rid of Omar in the offseason. The last thing you want is a GM with full autonomy trying to save his job.

I think G.H is the best option for the Mets to turn this around, if he's available. It would be nice for the organization to rebuild the farm system, instead of pouring free agent dollars into vets who are either in their prime or beyond. Hunsicker has an eye for talent and his track record shows that he doesn't give up on young talent.

I didn't mean that. I guess I didn't express myself clearly. I meant that the Wilpons hired him to be a fall guy.

Let's see...the last time I looked we were in a division with Philadelphia, Florida and Atlanta. I'll stick my neck out on the line and say we're better than the Nationals...but that's about it. What playoffs were you thinking about where we actually have a chance to contend?
