Default hank steinbrenner needs to STFU

"My only message is simple. The National League needs to join the 21st century," Steinbrenner said in Tampa, Fla. "They need to grow up and join the 21st century.

"Am I [mad] about it? Yes," Steinbrenner added. "I've got my pitchers running the bases, and one of them gets hurt. He's going to be out. I don't like that, and it's about time they address it. That was a rule from the 1800s."

Making a rare appearance on the bases at an NL park, Wang pulled up rounding third and hobbled home on Derek Jeter's single. Wang doubled over after scoring, pointed toward his right foot and was helped off the field.

"This is always a concern of American League teams when their pitchers have to run the bases and they're not used to doing it," Steinbrenner said. "It's not just us. It's everybody. It probably should be a concern for National League owners, general managers and managers when their pitchers run the bases. Pitchers have enough to do without having to do that."

Or, the AMERICAN LEAGUE should join the 21st century and get rid of the DH altogether.

Hank is a buffoon of epic proportions...

I hate the DH as much as the next guy, but I think the time has come for it to be one way or another. It's just such a huge advantage over the NL with salaries these days. NL teams can't have a $10 million bat on the bench...

Or maybe Wang should focus on being a better athlete. If you take good care of yourself, running the bases should not be that dire of a problem for you.

Imagine, expecting a baseball player to be able to actually run. Next they'll be asking Delgado to bend.

Or make the precious little kittens who pitch in the AL take 20 minutes out of their lives to watch some video of base running the day before they have to play in an NL park.

And how is that joining the 21st century any? what's modern about a guy who can only handle half of the game? That statement makes less sense than saying MLB needs to join the 21st century and allow steroids.

The DH is asinine. Why stop at the pitcher? Why not go NFL on the game and have two entirely different squads. 9 fielders and 9 batters. Or screw it- let's just cancel all of the rest of the games and show 2 hot shots on 'roids pitching for radar guns for 10 minutes and credit the fastest pitcher with a win. On cold days when the precious little kittens won't want to pitch, they can bring in 2 other steroid abusers to play HR derby with pitching machines. To hell with fielding and running. That **** doesn't sell.

**** Hank Steinbrenner. He's on a mission to create an image that makes every sound byte we ever got from his dad sound rational and reasonable.

That would explain why Delgado is starting instead of keeping the bench nice and toasty.

Baserunning is the one task in baseball even the most common man on the street could perform. I can sympathize with Hank for his frustration in having his best pitcher hurt in a fluke baserunning mishap, but the substance of his comments is inane. If Wang was hurt attempting a bunt or a swing, his comments would have at least be arguable, IMO.

Hank is a total joke and so is the DH. I couldn't be happier for him and his team. Now everyone will have an excuse if the Skanks don't make the playoffs for the first time in a century. That will be a great transition to their new park in 2009 - no new banner to hoist up.

I hate everything about the Yankees, and always will. It started when I was a little kid and it ain't gonna change anytime soon.
