Let's be honest. The only reason people like Buster Olney and Ken Rosenthal are pissed about this is because they didn't get to write about this for the papers or whatever this morning. They don't care about Willie. The fact that Ken Rosenthal called this the most embarrassing thing in the history of sports (or something like that) is a joke and I will never read another thing he writes.

Willie was not a good manager, but all of the outraged media types who spent more time wringing their hands about the manager than they did the horrendous supporting cast assembled by the general manager are basically complicit in what's happened.

I called it a week or two ago that as SOON as Willie was fired, the press would start calling the Mets front office idiots for one reason or another, and siding with Willie.

Of course, the dummies didn't have to make it SO easy for the press to be all "holier than thou," but it was inevitable, anyway.

They are also pissed because the beat writers on the west coast couldn't go to sleep because they had to report on it. Eddie C was on with Carton this morning when it was 3 AM local time. The ones on the East Coast were woken up early by the news.
