Default How the heck did Alomar survive this?

He sends the slowest runner since Rusty Staub home to tag up on a shallow flyball to RF. He is always screwing up as 3rd base coach?? Unbelievable. What gives.

Sandy Alomar, Sr - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.
Quote:
Santos "Sandy" Alomar Conde, Sr. (born October 19, 1943 in Salinas, Puerto Rico), is a former Major League Baseball second baseman who played for the Milwaukee and Atlanta Braves (1964-66); New York Mets (1967), Chicago White Sox (1967-69), California Angels (1969-74), New York Yankees (1974-76) and Texas Rangers (1977-78).
I'm not sure why he survived either.

Because the 2 Carlouses don't want him gone. They wanted Willie gone. I really do believe that.

Wow, if race were to truly be the only reason, then that is really sad. I hope that is not the case but with Omar you never know.

Sr Alomar is a good baseball man but if you're considering making a sweeping change, I ask myself the same question...

If anything, assign him bench coach duties and get someone else to do the 3B chores

Why Nieto? What has he done or not done? Was he useless? Lazy? Did Mets need the spot for Aguayo?

How did HOJO escape these firings?

You need "some" coaches to remain? Just stay with Manuel and Alomar and dismiss the rest. I am confused....

Supposedly Nieto was fired because he was one of "Willie's guys" and one of his "best friends from the Yankees" according to someone on SNY.

WTF?

That's uncalled for... regardless of who it's aimed at.

So he was the "only" coach on staff that Willie trusted? Weren't the rest selected by the braintrust? (Corrected-I believe Manual was also a Willie pick)

BUT why keep the rest?
