Post Randolph Left Twisting in the Wind Under the Pale Moonlight

Willie Randolph deserved better. He deserved to be treated like a man and not twist in the wind for the past few weeks, while the Mets decided his fate. And most certainly, he did not deserve to be fired under the pale moonlight. At 3:13 a.m., the word came to the inbox on the computer: Randolph, Rick...

Good Article Joe. I agree that a move had to be made, either say Willie is the manager till the end of the season or make a move to end the distraction. But the manner in which this was done was just wrong. If this organization wants to earn the respect of the fans, then they need to earn it. You earn it by making sound baseball and business decisions, you earn it by treating your employees and fans fairly and with dignity, you earn it by hiring the best qualified baseball people available and let them do their jobs.

You don't earn our respect by hiding under the cover of darkness and fire your manager and his coaches after making them fly acoss the States, win a game and then make them fly back like some disgraced schlep.

Why was Alomar spared this axe? Or HoJo? Was it because Alomar is Hispanic? HoJo a reminder of the good old days? This organization needs to be given an enema.

Alomar is an Omar guy. HoJo is the Wilpons' guy and David Wright's. Nieto is Willie's guy and Peterson had to go.

If you are going to do a purge, then go all the way. No one should have been spared. Manuel should be the only survivor and you surround him with a new coaching staff. But again, I'm a naive person not familiar with the politics of running a ball club. Training an Army...that i know (even the sorry politics of that too... )
