Default CC

why the hell not?
the mets have always been a "pitching" team. There's a bunch of payroll coming off in the fall.

WATP: Beltran + Cash, Niese/Parnell, Heilman for CC.

They have Sizemore out there, but shifting one over could create a pretty nice OF for them. Of course, we'd need a 72 hour extension window.

We could afford it, and Santana and CC, would make a ridiculous 1-2 punch, plus for this year at least, you have Pedro in there. Follow that up with maine, and perez, and look out. Next year, pelfrey goes back to the rotation once Perez and/or Pedro leave.

Our starters haven't been that bad, plus CC's going to walk at year's end.

Trading a relatively young gold glove center fielder who drives in 100 runs every year for an overweight pitcher with an ERA over five in his walk year is probably the dumbest suggestion I have ever heard.

Yep, especially since the offense has been bad and relief has been bad, SP is def not the issue

I don't think it's the dumbest ever since there's been a bunch of real doosies posted here of the years, but it makes very little sense for this team.

Sabathia long term for big money is just a risk this team doesn't need to take.

The only thing that I like about CC is that he was born on the same day as me.

Look, the guy had a great regular season last year....but his playoff performance was shaky (at best)...and you clearly have to be concerned with his size, endurance and did I mention his size?

The Mets have enough starting pitching to compete...I would be more interested to see if we can get Garko or Gutierrez on the cheap....

How about we take the $ that'd go to him and Castillo and draft some Joba's, Porcellos and look for the next Adrian Gonzalez? (Who I wanted before 2006, let alone last year)

Or Ervin Santana (Who was begging to be taken after bombing last year)

Or at least have a GM who attempts such things. Enough throwing $ around without a plan. We are becoming the ****ing Yankees without the annual default post-season appearance

It's NOT the way to do it. Otherwise it would have worked by now.

I'd rather have CC Rider.

Thank you. Thank you very much.

Actually, Sabathia is 11-37 in his career with a homer.

But as to judging him as a pitcher, between his Robinson Cancel-like body and the number of innings he's been throwing since he broke in before his 21st birthday, I'd be scared to give Sabathia the same contract Santana got for fear that he's a breakdown candidate. I don't think Sabathia's career is going to end tomorrow, but I wouldn't bet on him long-term as a front-line starter. Still he'll get his money somewhere, as there aren't a lot of pitchers who can legitimately advertise themselves as young workhorses. If the Mets could somehow sign Sabathia to a 5-year deal, I'd be a little interested, especially with the idea of Santana and Sabathia both pitching in their prime together, but I don't see how Sabathia won't get 7 or 8 years somewhere.

I disagree with those who don't believe starting pitching to be an issue. Though the ERAs of the Mets starters have been okay, their lack of eating innings has been killing the bullpen.

Omar says he'll do it, but only if one of the C's stands for "Carlos".

people are forgetting that only santana, maine, pelfrey are current starters on the mets under contract for next year. Duque may hang them up, i doubt the mets will re-up him. Pedro could walk. Perez will chase the money and end up somewhere dumb, like the royals or nats, and then what? Our starters are good for THIS year, but long term, could be scary. who's better that's going to be on the market? We clearly have to "BUY" another pitcher this offseason. Why not get it done now? oh, the money issue. right, like it matters to us. We're still going to pay 7 for a hot dog at citi.
