| Senior Member | At this point, I want him gone as much as anyone here.... but is it really going to shake up this bunch? Especially with Manuel as the replacement? Maybe the majority of the team that isn't playing well right now will play better with an 'amigo' at the helm? Omar needs to go more than Willie... and it looks like he's escaped the chopping block until the end of the year at minimum. I hope that the team sucks with Manuel as manager... just to show that Omar has been the problem, not just the manager(s).

| Omar AND Willie need to go. I agree that the problems are far greater than Willie, but nonetheless, there is not one aspect of managing where it can be said that Willie is anything less than dreadful. He's a terrible in-game tactical manager, he's far too slow to make role changes, his team has been plagued with lackluster hustle since last season at least, there's no evidence that the clubhouse has benefited from his presence, and finally (and in sum), Willie's a f***ing moron. That all of Willie's flaws don't directly cause the Mets to lose every day doesn't mean he should be kept. Obviously, the players and the GM all deserve a ton of blame, but that shouldn't give Willie a pass. I don't know enough about Manuel to know whether he's a good candidate as even an interim replacement, but my sense is that they should start fresh from outside, and a new GM should pick a new manager of his choice.

| Yep, we have nothing to lose by firing him. If the team goes in the tank than Omar should get the blame and we overhaul the roster. If we replace him with a manager with some fire and passion and that puts some life in the team than that is a positive. Firing him is a win/win scenario. Agree about it putting scrutiny on Omar without Willie being around to get the blame. |
