Default Hey Omar - How 'Bout Them SAT Scores??

Anyone remember how Omar bragged about being the only MLB GM without a college degree? How he showed this to be proof that baseball was instinct more than formal education?

Maybe he was just too ****ing STOOOOPID to get INTO a college?

Billy Beane is a mathematical genius. Ditto Epstein and his Yale education and Juris Doctorate.

You can't learn how to run a multi-million dollar corporation on instinct. Human resource skills are not honed through instinct. A college degree(s) is something that proves that you can think through complex problems and finish tasks, sometimes impractical, with logical connection and within time constraints. You learn the power of the application of mathematics to real life situations.

You want to brag about not having any formal education? I wouldn't hire this imbecile to scrub my parquee floors.

I was so put off by this guy's rambling, incoherent introductory press conference. He came across as such an imbecile. I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, but it turns out he really is a moron.

You also learn, via Speech 101, how to convert coherent thoughts into well-spoken dialogue. Omar sounded like some thug turd with his pants around his hips and a red bandana around his forehead.

Yeah, that's right - that was a barrio steretype. ****ing sue me.

When I was growing up, my mother would tell me to try to avoid saying "um" as much as possible when I talked. I never understood why until I started to hear Omar Minaya's press conferences. The guy says "ummmmmm" roughly every three seconds and it DAMN NEAR DRIVES ME INSANE.

When I was growing up I was taught to clean my room spotlessly or else Teddy gets it. This Mets team should follow that rule. Better than anything else they've tried this year. Think about it. take a clubhouse favoite and hold him hostage unil they win the division. If they don't win he gets thrown into traffic or something. I dunno. The point is, they need a change. Plus, they'd all have spotless lockers. So I don't see how they could lose here.

Again just read Moneyball where Billy Beane basically calls Omar Minaya a retard. We all should have seen this coming.

Theres something to be said for the people that have to work under the idiot. I've been in the situation and I'm sure you all have when you had to report to or follow decisions made by someone you knew to be a retarded monkey. It brings moral down pretty quick when you're educated opinion is being overruled by an ignoramus.

Honestly, although education is certainly a factor, maybe it has to do with the fact that English really is not his first (native) language. Although he has lived in the U.S. many years, he undoubtedly grew up speaking primarily Spanish. In fact, I have heard Omar give interviews in Spanish, and his Spanish, although not eloquent, is not at a "street level". In fact, given that he is bilingual and has a decent command of a second language, would seem to contradict the notion that he is an idiot.
