Default Why Willie Sucks Ass Pt Infinity

He manages his team in an effort to not lose, ergo not lose his job, rather than to win.

An old mentor of mine taught me - "if you manage a business like you're afraid to get fired you will never succeed".

You think so? Sometimes I think he's trying to get fired.

Ladies and gentlemen, say hello to the first-place New York Mets.

Well, tied for first place in the NL East with the Phillies at 52-44. But with a 10-game winning streak, and with the way the Mets rallied for a 10-8 win over the Reds last night, it seems like only a matter of time before the Mets leave the rest of the division in the rearview mirror.
You ****ing knew it after reading that.

If I was a manager of a bunch of losers I'd want to get fired.

why the **** did he remove pelfrey last night. how much better is this kid going to look that he'll have an opportunity to close a game. one bloop hit and he takes him out? pelfrey has to throw a no hitter to go 9 innings? Let the kid finish the damn game, he was still throwing 95 and the dbacks hadnt touched him for 8 innings prior. Willie needs to go.

He isn't a manager, and I doubt he could bench manage if asked.

While Id like to see Pelf finish the deal, Willie went to his closer, who is SUPPOSED to be one of the best ever, RIGHT?

Cant get on Willie for that move.

I agree but still, not a complete game since 06? This franchise needs to take the damn tampon out.

How many pitches did you want to allow him to throw?

Whatever it took, if he gave up a run then Id pull him. Had 3 to work with. Every decision cant be based on pitch count

There comes a time when every pitcher is done and at 112 pitches at that point after giving up a hit you can't fault taking him out.

Your 'Whatever it took' comment is just idiocy.

No, you're an idiot. When is the next time Pelfrey is going to have a chance to go 9. you're telling me an extra 20 pitches on one start is going to blow a guys arm out? Ok Rick Peterson.

20 pitches is a lot different then 'whatever it takes', which could theoretically be an infinite amount.

I also don't see the bonus (or what's gained) in having him go 9 innings. Willie gave him the chance by allowing him to start to 9th.

IMO Pelfrey should have faced one more batter, but I see no problem bringing Wagner in. As mentioned, he's your closer and you need to trust him in a spot like that.

It was an exaggeration , I would not let the guy go 200 pitches, but how many possible pitches is he going to throw before hes in a real jam (not a bloop hit) or gets out of the jam with a quick DP or whatnot.
