Default Wow... Cerrone is Coming Around...

Per Metsblog

Quote:
…i have talked with a few agents who keep in touch with players, who knows players, i have talked with people connected to the team, people connected to its players, etc., and the sense i get is that there are several people on this team – key players – who are sick of the pressure, sick of the booing, sick of the media, sick of New York, and, if the team is winning it is tolerable, but, if the team is losing, they just can’t take it…

…i know Willie Randolph wants us to ‘turn the page,’ he wants us to focus on the future, and the long season that still remains…the thing is, like it or not, The Collapse is always looming…it hangs over all of our heads like a black cloud…the fans are still being affected by it, and players are still being affected by it…

…and so, i am starting to believe that this organization may need new players who have not been impacted by Game 7 and The Collapse…they may also need a new voice to lead them…the fans need new people to cheer, and to provide hope and something different…something other than the same slogans, the same results, the same players, the same cloud that is putting pressure on the players and depressing the fans…at this point, it’s not just about making the playoffs and winning baseball games, it’s about keeping us interested, passionate and hopeful…

Player to Agent:

"Hey, can you get me the biggest possible contract? One that's guarenteed? One that makes me the highest paid at my position? On a big market team that can afford a star like me? Oh, and can you tell the fans I don't like booing, pressure and dealing with the media"?

What Freak said.

Also, do their f*cking jobs, play hard, and win ballgames. Guaranteed, the booing will stop.

In an ideal world, this would be the case. Met fans can be harder to please at times it seems.

Or how about just growing some balls and actually overcoming the adversity. There's a novel idea.

Just imagine the '86 bunch still crying about '85 in June.

For me, it is. I NEVER boo great effort. I've seen worse, way less talented Mets teams that showed more fight than this group. Then again, I've come to the realization that maybe this team just ain't that good.

I see Freak's point, but then again, Mets fans are never really given much to be pleased about. I think fans are tired of "believing".... They want results...and championships.

Right, because we showed up in droves to boo the teams of 1985, 1986, 1988, 1999, 2000, 2006, etc.

This bs about the players and their feelings is a lotta bs. "Play the game hard." That's really all we ask. Losing is tolerable if we see the players busting their humps to win. It makes you want to root for them. We boo them because they show little or no desire. They're paid millions of dollars to play baseball as best as they could all the time. That's what we pay money to see. Not this lackluster crap. I'm through with them. Again.

Delgado never wanted to be here in the first place. He should have been traded after 06, and his big year. He had a right to request a trade. He should have taken it then. Maybe we could have gotten something then.
I'd imagine Beltran is still whiney. He's never really been the same since the strike 3, and always seemed moody and whiney. Alou is just Alou. never a fan favorite, won't be missed.

I dont think this team is far from being competitive if a major overhual is done. The marlins are somewhat winning. the dbacks, rays, oakland, are all winning.

As long as teh young core is kept, reyes, wright, church, maine, this team will be fine.
