Default The "Players-Only" Meeting - The Map of Winning

Anyone else read this? They came out of their players-only meeting with a friggin' MAP to win... Oy... I can't decide if this is sad, pathetic, admirable, cute, or just plain delusional.

Despite meeting, Mets blow lead and fall to Diamondbacks 9-5 at Shea

They haven't played like a playoff team, but the Mets still believe they are one. And Tuesday, before facing the Diamondbacks, the Mets players emerged from a brief players-only, closed-door meeting, each carrying a piece of paper with a blueprint for a future that includes the postseason.

One player allowed the Daily News a quick glance at the sheet, which looked a lot like a flow chart with a series of arrows. At the top was the team's record entering Tuesday night's game, 30-32. Near the bottom was a circled final regular-season record of 92-70.

Below that was an arrow pointing to a single word: "Playoffs."

The sheet also had several phrases and motivational messages. One said "We B4 I." Another read "team above self." A third message was "we have time."

I hope they have one printed in Spanish.

Maybe they should just break out the Major League thing where they pull off a piece of clothing from some cardboard cut out of some chick each time they win.

I know this is supposed to be a calming message for players but it drives me nuts.

After one calander year, we should know by now that the Mets ALWAYS have time and that it's ALWAYS early. Sure the Titanic hit the iceberg 3 hours ago, but no need to panic.

I heard about this on the FAN this morning. According to them, the players-only meeting lasted 10 whole minutes. I had to laugh.

If the Mets can go 62 - 37 (they lost last night - off to another great start), I'll be amazed. It means they'll have to play .626 ball for the rest of the season. I'm starting to wonder if this season isn't lost already.

I wonder what goes on in a Players meeting?

Here's my guess...

The guys sit around passing a new copy of Car and Driver looking at the new Ferrari's and Porsche's.

Or

Listening to Bachata, Merengue and the like and dancing.

Or

Playing cards.
Sleeping.
Playing God Of War on the PSP.

The season was loss during the off-season when the Mets decided it was only "Two bad weeks".

It sure is starting to look that way. Remember when the Santana trade looked like a ray of hope?

That trade cost me money. I was going to get rid of Extra Innings, but then that trade convinced me to re-up.

Needless to say, I regret that decision.

Did it dawn on any of them that they may need more than 92 wins to make the playoffs? What a ridiculous, pathetic excuse for a "team" this collection of gutless f*cking losers has become.

You know what, though? I'm glad they pulled this stupid little stunt, because when they finish with 77 wins it will hopefully prove to one and all how f*cking clueless and lame they've been all along, and how far off the mark their opinion of themselves is.

Or Pedro's return.

You couldn't be more wrong. One faction plays Guitar Hero and another plays Rock Band. Alou doesn't play for fear of developing blisters but gets electrocuted when pissing on his hands and hitting the live wire.

Agreed, but they will be getting their millions while the fans suffer. It truly sucks.

These stupid messages remind me of the damn Muslims with their " Allah will conquer evil" type messages.

Worked so well for the Iraqi Army.
