Default Kemp Available?

According to Ken Rosenthal, possibly available for some win now pieces.

FOX Sports on MSN - MLB -

I dont know, i'd be willing to trade anyone not named wright, reyes, maine, santana, fernando martinez.

Beltran, flanked by Kemp and Fernando would be pretty awesome.

Trouble is, if we had any really good win now pieces, we'd be winning now.

In a dream world, we could give them Delgado, Alou, Perez, and Heilman. I'd be willing to pay their full salaries the rest of the year too. So its those 4, + about 30 Million bucks, for kemp.

A package starting around Oliver Perez could be intriguing to them.

If Omar reads this he'll probably look to sign Steve Kemp. Or maybe Jack Kemp.

Why not trade Beltran and Heilman for Kemp? This sheds the Mets of a ton of salary and helps in the retooling process.

As for James Loney, no thanks. I've had enough of his brother Beau Loney.

I don't think the Dodgers would be willing to take on Beltran's contract along with the 15+ they'll owe Jones for next year.

The more realistic move IMO (Not that I'm calling for it), if people are looking to run Beltran out of town, would be..

Beltran for Jones and Kemp.

I think you'd have to seriously consider that, in order to get kemp. Jones has a year next year at 19 mil though. but you'd be saving about 60 mil that's left owed to beltran. so you gain 40 mil essentially, plus kemp. If fernando proves that he's ready by next spring, you have a slight logjam for a year. But then after jones is cleared, you have an OF of Kemp, Fmart, Church. Not too shabby, young, athletic, and hopefully powerful.
Plus, with Jones's knee surgery, maybe he bounces back.
I'm not sure though that Beltran + Heilman would be enough though for jones and kemp. Also, aren't you not allowed to trade players on the DL?

Yup. When I saw this thread, my first thought was Omar would be looking to acquire JACK Kemp. Not to worry.... It wont happen, unless his name was Jack Kempez.

The McGimpy does most things upside down: eats, sleeps (an average of 23 hours per day), mates, and gives birth. Because of the McGimpy's upside down life, many of the McGimpy's internal organs (liver, stomach, spleen, pancreas) are in different positions from other mammals. McGimpy sometimes lets out a cry or hissing sound.

During the rare times the McGimpy goes down to the ground (such as to change trees for food), it moves very slowly.

You guys want Matt Kemp? Seriously? He's a TERRIBLE defensive player, and his plate discipline is lousy.

From actually reading the article there is nothing but one non-sequential quote that says that the dodgers would even think about it, much less actually do it. Kemp isn't going anywhere IMO.

Beltran's not having much of a 2008, but I'm not ready to trade him in for a player whose ceiling is hardly as good as an average Beltran year. Beltran is young enough and has had success enough that I don't think he's done.

On the other hand, if Kemp could be had in some sort of Oliver Perez package somehow, I'm all for that, but I strongly doubt that's the case.

Might the Dodgers be interested in moving Kemp if we threw a package of Perez, Heilman and Alou at them? Alou becomes the veteran in the clubhouse (in the lineup, of course, is a crap shoot at best). They get another starter and another reliever. We unload some people who don't figure into next year's plans and get a young player with some talent. It's probably not enough.
