| It's become painfully apparent that nobody in this organization -- from the Wilpons on down to the batboys -- actually gives a damn about winning. CitiField, SNY, the back pages. That's what they care about. If they don't care, why should I? I'll go to the games for which I already have tickets, I'll watch on TV -- sometimes -- just to while away some time. But living & dying with each win & loss? I'm done with that for this year. And if they somehow surprise us all and actually do turn it around -- yeah, riiiiiiight -- no one will be more shocked than I, and I've been a fan for 41 years.

| I am actually upset with myself. After last year's debacle I told myself that I would never let this or any other team have that kind of effect on me. It's only a game. And then the season starts and I get wrapped right up in it again.

| I think a white towel is in order. They should see what they can get for Every FA to be guy on the roster. Get any prospects they can get. Rebuild the farm. And look for smart FA chips in the offseason. Hit the reset button, and rebuild around reyes, wright, maine, santana, church. everyone else should be available.

See, everything you outline would require the 2 biggest things this org. lacks: brains & balls.

| This team sucks. I'm proud to say I've watched two FULL games all year. I forget they were even playing last night until I was flipping through the channels and saw the game in the ninth. Jumped on ESPN.com, saw what happened, laughed, and went to bed. Why is Willie still managing?

But recently, I've started to think otherwise. Like when I read articles that sound like the Mets were waiting for Moises Alou to come back and that then everything would be better. That's when it finally dawned on me that this team has too many flaws. I don't know if they're really a sub-500 team, but that's what they're playing like right now. I don't care if Casey Stengel and Gil Hodges rose from the dead to manage this team - they'd still be an uninspired bunch. Willie Randolph might look like a better manager if the players he managed at least tried to look like they were doing all they could to win. But who's even hitting 300 on this team? How many clutch hits have they gotten? Where are the gutsy pitching performances, especially out of the pen? Like I said, too many flaws on this team. | |
