| OK..... The time has come to get the act together.... A new season starts TODAY! Alou has made it through the first 24 hours... Get out the index cards (Mets left meeting with index cards with motivational messages on the.... elementary school tactic?).... HERE THEY COME !!!! Oh, by the way, did anyone hear the comment on WFAN quoting (haven't heard it yet) DW and saying he was getting more feminine by the minute? (Remember the "whispering during interviews" comment.... maybe a little more of that?) Oh well.............. here goes to Beltran and Reyes getting it going! Fasten your seat belts! |

| According to Roger Rubin (Metsblog) “Before facing the Diamondbacks, the Mets players emerged from a brief players-only, closed-door meeting, each carrying a piece of paper…The sheet also had several phrases and motivational messages. One said ‘We B4 I.’ Another read “team above self.” A third message was ‘we have time.’” Nevertheless, following the game, Omar Minaya, Willie Randolph, Rick Peterson, Guy Conti and Tony Bernazard met in Randolph’s office for roughly five to 10 minutes. Minaya told reporters after the meeting that nothing has changed since the team’s press conference on May 26, i.e., Randolph and his coaches are safe. …from what i understand, the locker room was like a morgue after the game…so, sure, while nothing has changed physically, i bet a lot has changed mentally… |

| Interesting quotes... lol "If we continue to play like that," Jose Reyes said, "it's not going to get it done." "Nothing has changed from what we spoke about two weeks ago," Minaya said "I didn't pitch nearly as well as I should have," Maine said "This is obviously a trying time for us," David Wright said "We acted upon the expert advice of our doctors," Minaya said, "and I have lot of confidence in our doctors." "We have a good team," a relaxed-looking Minaya said |

| Pelfey vs Webb. Has there ever been a bigger mismatch in terms of SP. If the shoe was on the other foot, I am sure Pelfrey would shut the Mets out but since he pitches for the NY Losers, we will lose. My prediction 7-1.

| Senior Member | You guys know what will happen tonight...the same as happened the last 2 games. The Mets, facing an ace, will come out and score a couple of runs early. Pelfrey will struggle but somehow manage to hold a slim lead - ala Pedro, ala Maine and get yanked in the 6th. The bullpen will then proceed to implode. That will setup tomorrows loss where Santana gives his normal 7 innings 2 runs, the bullpen slams the door, but the Mets offense cant do anything. Broken record.... |

| You know what ? We could have an in his prime Tom Seaver or Nolan Ryan starting tonight, and if they could only go 5 innings (which they probably wouldnt), and had to turn the game over to THIS bullpen, either of them would STILL lose the game. While our starting pitching has its problems, (and I despise that most all of them only seem good for 5 innings or less), with our bullpen in its current state, how can we possibly win games ? It is amazing how Omar and company cant go out and get some bullpen help. Hell, why not keep bringing up kids from AAA and AA, and see if they can catch lightning in a bottle ? What do they have to lose ? |
