Default Alou...LOL Take a wild guess................

Following tonight’s game, Willie Randolph told reporters that Moises Alou was pulled from the game after the rain delay because his calf was ‘a bit tight.’

Randolph said Alou will be fine, they were just being extra caution in his first game back from the disabled list.

Can we just cut this guy. Please. He seems like a nice enough guy and I will agree the team is a lot better when he is around but depending on his decrepit ass this is season is one of the big reasons Omar deserves to lose his job. Now that he is off the DL I would give him a big fat check and tell him to get the **** out of town. We are going to suck the rest of the year, but we aren't going to suck with you on the DL.

Morons.....thats okay. Sheesh, dont you guys do ANY athletics? A 25 year old with a bad muscle would have been pulled from the game.

Exactly. For once, Randolph made the correct move. The minute rain started falling Alou should have been pulled. No sense in putting him out there with a chance to re-tweak a still healing injury. Unfortunately, the Mets need him in the line-up.

I don't think he posted this to say it was a bad move. I think he (if I may) thinks it's funny that old man mcGimpy feels a bit of tightness again. We all know this poor slob will be on the dl again.

Sad, actually, because he has one of the greatest swings ever and is a pure hitter and I am sure he's always giving 120%.

The more he comes back the more I like the guy. He kinda reminds me of Cliff Floyd. Could have packed in two years ago but still keeps coming back to try to help the team. I guarrantee you that Alou is still in quite a bit of pain, but is playing because he knows he can contribute, even at less than 100%. Hopefully he can get fully healthy and stay that way.

Don't worry - he's day to day.

This makes a ton of sense. Wait until he comes OFF the DL to cut him.

Look at it another way - it's waiting until he goes on the pre-disabled list to cut him.

Ladies and gentlemen, say hello to the first-place New York Mets.

Well, tied for first place in the NL East with the Phillies at 52-44. But with a 10-game winning streak, and with the way the Mets rallied for a 10-8 win over the Reds last night, it seems like only a matter of time before the Mets leave the rest of the division in the rearview mirror.
You ****ing knew it after reading that.

I will put tonight's game on mute, so I can be spared another 9 innings of Gary Cohen ball washing the guy. Every bloop single is a ripped line drive, every routine catch is Endy Chavez redux. It smacks of agenda when HAROLD REYNOLDS did some ball washing as well. Maz was the only one not afraid to say that Alou is NOT a difference maker.

I'm with NPG on this one. Alou is a hindrance because IMHO, as long as he is around for OMar/Willie to "wait" for every time he is on the DL, the org probably won't make a play for a legit OF at the deadline. I know he can hit, but it does no good when he can do for only 2-3 weeks at a time, then miss a month.

Heck, they won't even call up an OF from AAA, and give one the of them a shot. Instead we are subjected to a Tatis/Chavy (mostly Chavy, yay) platoon while Church is out (and who knows how long that will be realistically), and Abraham Nunez, who makes Joe McEwing really look super.

BRD, its not Alou's fault that the mets don't have a competent 4th outfielder. Hell they don't even have a 3rd outfielder right now. Omar has been resting on Chavez's laurels for a few years right now, when most anyone could see that his 2006 season was more a fluke than the norm. There were many decent 3rd/4th outfielders available, and he passed, instead picking up the crap that he did.

In the 97 games Moises Alou has started over the last two seasons, the Mets are 53–44, during which they’re averaging 5.5 runs per games.

In the 127 games he has missed, the Mets are 65–62 while averaging 4.4 runs per game.

What’s more, David Wright is batting .339 with Alou in the lineup, while batting .291 in his absence.

Similarly, Carlos Beltran is batting .313 with Alou in the lineup, but .238 with him out of the lineup.

Yeah, he could have packed it in and turned his back on millions of dollars but no, he's a real Mother Teresa for continuing to play through debilitating calf strains.

well I am pretty sure you can't cut someone on the DL. I am not saying Alou won't help this team but they are beyond help and waiting for his crippled ass to get back time after time can't help. Cutting him sends a message. Serious changes are in order and we aren't ****ing around.

No its not Alou's fault. It is 100% Omar's fault and is the main reason why he needs to be shown the door. Even my mom knew Alou would get hurt and yet Omar doesn't plan for these things.
