| That the attitudes of Met fans are changing. For years, they could count on the spirit of "Ya Gotta Believe" to bring people like me to Shea or to faithfully tune in on radio or TV, even in times of mediocrity. I was, until recently, one of those people. Tonight, I did what I have not done in a long, long time- I spent an evening not caring what the Mets are doing. And I had an enjoyable time doing it. When I finally did casually check up on the game, I was actually glad I'd decided to spend my time doing something less aggravating and more productive than paying attention to this team. Understand that I have spent most of my life as a serious fan of the NY Mets, and I have now reached a state of apathy and indifference towards the franchise I haven't felt since the middle of 1993. This was a frame of mind I didn't break out of until 1997. I wonder if the Wilpons realize that there are no doubt many others like me, who'll NOT be coming to Shea, final season or not... that they'll be many others who DON'T bother to watch SNY...that won't bother coming to Citifield next year...that will buy their kids Jeremey Shockey Giant jerseys and not David Wright ones. We've got better things to blow our cash on... I wonder if the Wilpons realize that a whole generation of kids who may just have almost become lifelong fans of the Mets over the Yankees may have decided to side with the team in the Bronx, simply because they have more of a past, if not any more of a future than the Mets. I wonder if the Wilpons even have a clue about what many of us are thinking and feeling right now. |

The bad news for Met fans..... the Wilpons have at least 2 years of a Sold out Citifield (at much higher ticket prices), and will be raking in the $$$. I am pretty sure THAT'S what they are thinking about the most. It really seems the Wilpons are in total denial about the state of the Mets, much like everyone else in the Mets Organization. While things can turn around, the Wilpons are the ones who have the push the button to start the purge. It should have happened weeks ago. It cant happen soon enough.

| I dont care what anyone says, Met fans will not pay to see a $hitty ass team like this year's team just because they are playing in a new stadium. Anyone who thinks people will actually GO to the games in 2009 or 2010 when the team is under .500 is insane |

Yeah, the Met fans will not be there, but the casual fan who wants to see the new park will be there. The person (not even fan) who wants to do the "in" thing will be there, course he/she will also be at YS will be there as well. That person who bought into all the nostalgia BS about old Ebbets Field will be there. Basically Citi Field will be a major tourist trap for the first couple of years of its existence.

No matter what, CitiField WILL be full or near full for most every game, and I dont think I am insane about this at all. It is practically a foregone conclusion. It is a brand new stadium, and its only 45,000 seats in a massive city. It wont be hard to fill. The stadium will be the attraction, not the team. Also, keep in mind that the everyday fans like you and I wont be attending many of the games. It will be mostly the corporations and the very wealthy, who will be spending the big bucks to visit CitiField. Build it.... they will come.

| I am done with this team until they give me a reason to care again. We ae at pre-Piazza days here, as far as I am concerned. This team is an absolute joke starting with Omar and Willie and including just about every single player.

| I hate to say it but all of this nostalgia crap about Ebbetts field is bunk anyway. The Dodgers for the most part of their time in our area....... sucked. I don't feel it's a healthy situation to emulate a team that was a disaster. Except for ONE year (1955). I really feel that there's nothing lovable about a loser. A loser is nothing but............a loser. |

I know a lot of you might be nostalgic about them, etc, but I could give two shits about the ****ing Brooklyn Dodgers. Other than the fact that their exit paved the way for the Mets creation they have absolutely no bearing on the history of this team and the fact that we have to "honor" them just further perpetuates the loser mentality of this franchise. What a great ****ing team to emulate. One that continually came up short and then broke their fans hearts by moving 3000 miles across the country.....wait maybe they are the perfect role models.

I realize that Fred Wilpon has a love affair with the Dodgers, but thats where it should have ended. Not with a New version of Ebbets Field. While it will probably be a fine stadium, I have to wonder if they could have done better.

| You and I both know they'll suck you back in somehow. They'll rattle off 5 or 6 in a row, start showing signs of life and then once you think it's safe, BAM, 8 game losing streak and David Wright's foot falls off on his way to score the winning run of a game.

| Oh they will suck me back into watching and even caring a bit I am sure but barring some miraculous event, like a 20 game winning streak, they will never convince me they will make any real noise this year. At this point I am just hoping they can ruin someone's season (preferably the Phillies) in Sept.
