I thought this was hilarious when i read it last night. The guy just doesnt know how badly he comes off. You should have heard him in his last WFAN interview, where he was basically pissed off that he didnt get Hojo or Obies job after one year in rookie ball. Douche

Gary has the brain for baseball and the mouth for tabloids. No thanks. Brainless in the real world. Brutal.

Yeah, that would go over well with the players. Regardless of how the feel about Willie, imagine having to work for a guy who you know just totally back stabbed your boss. Imagine the reception he'll get from the manager's fraternity around the league who wouldn't want this done to them.

Sorry but there is unwritten rule that you just don't do this sort of thing, especially not publicly. Carter may have unofficially ended any chance of ever managing in the big leagues with that move.

Classless move.

The Mets organization is done with Carter. He'll never have another job on any meaningful scale again

I think that it's hilarious.

All's fair in business.

You all know damned good and well that if you had a shot at a promotion as soon as your supervisor falls off the ledge you'd slather on the Crisco.

The problem is that this was said in public. It surely won't endear him to the managers around the league nor do I think it goes over well with the players. Had Gary called Jeff on the sly and made it clear that it was off the record then I might agree with you.

Publicly pining for your boss' job, while he's still employed, is totally classless.

Is anyone really surprised? Gary Carter has always been about Gary Carter.

I always thought Catchers and Pitchers make the best managers, but I'm not so sure about Gary.

LOL. I can't help but picture the kid in class pushing his raised hand up higher with the other hand while yelling out "OOH, ME, ME, ME!! I KNOW I KNOW! ME! ASK ME!" Did he leave an apple on the Wilpons desk with a tag saying "love, Gary"? Jesus, what an idiot.

The players would be trying to strangle him within two weeks. Forget him. He's a social retard.

Carter is a jackass. I hope he never gets a Managerial job in the Majors.
