Default Reyes' condition now a "Mild Strain"

Surfing The Mets - NY Daily News

One last Reyes update: The MRI results on his left hammy were deemed the dreaded “mild strain,” and he will also skip Sunday’s series finale with a scheduled off-day Monday. He hopes to return for the Washington series against L-Millz and The Duke.
Just DL him and give him the 2 weeks already. Why does this team always go shorthanded?

Too often, it seems as if they cant learn from their mistakes.

At minimum, they might as well send down Brady Clark and call up Anderson Hernandez, Anderson Machado, or Fernando Tatis to get another infielder in the mix. It's not like the Mets have had much use for Clark with Pagan having played so well and Chavez right behind him. They can always reverse the move in 10 days if/when Reyes and Castillo are completely healthy. Ii don't mean this as a "diss" of Clark, but merely as a reflection that the Mets could use another infielder right now.

Alternatively, if the Mets think that Duaner Sanchez is about ready to rejoin the team, the Mets could send down Carlos Muniz for the weekend and call up one of the infielders. After Muniz went two innings today, I doubt he's going again on Saturday unless things get really ugly (not impossible.)

Very reasonable. I don't think that the Mets want to take any chances with rushing Reyes with this (especially if the weather remains cool at Shea). I would take Tatis over Hernandez. With Castillo and Reyes being both plagued by injuries, the Gotay waiver move is looking dumber and dumber.

If he truly is going to play on Tuesday then there is no way you can DL him. People always ***** and moan about the Mets doing this but it is a common practice around baseball. Rollins hasn't played since the first game of the Mets series and never got DL'd. Jeter is another example from just this week. I like to rip the Mets as much as the next guy but if they honestly feel that they can get him back on Tuesday it is worth playing short for a game or two.

Well then let me change my rant. Why is Duaner getting this auto-call up next week for pitching back to back games ONCE? Shouldn't he do this three or four times before being called up and counted on?

Because the bullpen has been atrocious.

This team never plans. It just reacts. It will bite them in the butt if they are not careful. Granted, I've said this for many years so it's not a surprise to anybody.

Hopefully, THIS time, they are accurate with an injury and Reyes will be fine afterwards.

So what happens when, in typical Mets fashion, it is FRIDAY, and Reyes still hasn't played?

Well then you have a right to criticize them but not right now.

While I like Easley's bat, in no way shape or form is he a capable shortstop. It makes you wonder why the hell this team decided to keep only a second baseman as a back up infielder. Good thing we let the younger and more capable fielder in Gotay go.
