Default Some perspective...

...I know I'll be flamed with the whole "real fan" or "fantern" nonsense for this, but SERIOUSLY, some perspective is needed:

- EVERY TEAM in the NL East has at least four losses
- two of the five teams have FIVE losses
- the MARLINS are in first place

It has sucked - but it could be much, much worse.

yeah. It'd be nice to see some sort of dominant play the next two games, but thats wishful thinking.

I agree with you and I'm not one to over-react and claim the next 2 games will decide the season and/or are 'must-wins' after a week of games. But, when things are going bad or have the feel of being stale some shake-up is needed.

How about juggling the line-up some Willie or doing something that will wake this team up and get them going?

He has the perfect excuse for making that adjustment without causing a stupid press uproar, but I doubt he will take it.

Assuming Castillo is going to sit a few games he should hit Pagan first, move Reyes second and have Easley and Church flip flopping on righty/lefty in the sixth spot.

He won't do it though.

I see that Metsblog is halting commenting because of the anti-Willie commentary... Nice...

Agreed that the division isn't playing very well... However, we've looked like we're playing hung over...

The "only 6 games in" excuse would work if it didn't look like a direct carry over from the last 3 months of last season.

he is halting nothing, there is only so much posting his server will take so every lunatic coming to his site to cry about how brilliant they are in comparison to Randolph will have to find another conduit until snack time after recess.

And this is my biggest gripe. If this team was coming off a playoff run or something like that than I could overlook the slow start. But this team has absolutely no excuse to be playing the type of uninspired baseball we have seen the last week after the debacle last year. This team should have been chomping at the bit to get out there and kick the ever loving **** out of the Phillies. Instead they cower in the corner the moment they fall behind.

If this wasn't (basically) the same group of collapsing losers from last year, who less than 24 hours ago lost the EXACT same kind of game they lost almost every day in September, to the EXACT same team that embarrassed and stole their division title from them, those comparisons and the pep talk would be easier to swallow.

But they are the same team, and it isn't easy to swallow.

It is not the exact same team, and I believe that is why the first few games should at least play out.

It is gut wrenching thought, but even should the Mets get swept this series I want to see what happens in the after math, especially in the 8 of 10 vs. Philly, Cubs and Braves before assuming anything.

I was thinking the same thing with Pagan and Reyes, though I'd also swap Beltran and Wright in the order.

I'd even look into putting Church as the lead-off guy in en effort to try and get some power up there and allow Pagan to help break-up all the lefties in the bottom of the order.

I'll wait on that until Delgado's fate is determined, if Delgado is going be a .240.250 hitter with an .800 OPS this year then yes Beltran will be in trouble and Wright is better suited to get into that cleanup spot.
